Situations

Describe a situation you are familiar with in which people based their actions or opinions on false information. How would the situation have changed if the facts were researched and presented more carefully?

In my job, customers rely on the information they are given by us, and sometimes the information given out by us is not exactly reliable. When new representatives are giving information to customers sometimes they feel like they can just wing it or maybe they feel the information they are giving out is accurate just because they think, that’s the way it should be.

Almost every day I get a call from a customer who says “but I was told”. And every day I have to fix the problem for the customer. With our billing system if things are not done a certain way then the things that follow will not be reflected accurately. For instance, if we give a customer bonus airtime during the month after they have already gone over their allotted minutes and the bonus airtime is not backdated to the beginning of their billing cycle, then the bonus minutes will not cover the overage the customer already has. The customer is told that they are covered by the bonus minutes but the reality is that they will be billed for the overage they already have.

If our representative would research the standard operating procedures then this misinformation and confusion could be avoided. While not exactly an earth shattering event if correct information or procedures were followed in the first place then customer call backs and irritation would be limited.

I want to bang on this website all day!

I guess the difference is that I do want to work; I just don’t want to go to work. I want to work on my websites all day and not have to report to an idiot. Still just dreaming for now. Mark my words 1 year and this will be my full time job.

BANG ON THE DRUM

Todd Rundgren

I Don’t Want To Work

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day
I Don’t Want To Play

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

Ever since I was a tiny boy
I don’t want no candy
I don’t need no toy
I took a stick and an old coffee can
I bang on that thing ’til I got

Blisters on my hand because

CHORUS

I Don’t Want To Work

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day
I Don’t Want To Play

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

When I get older they think I’m a fool
The teacher told me I should stay after school
She caught me pounding on the desk with my hands
But my licks was so hot
I made the teacher wanna dance
And that’s why

CHORUS

I Don’t Want To Work

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day
I Don’t Want To Play

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

BREAK

CHORUS
I Don’t Want To Work

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day
I Don’t Want To Play

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

Listen to this
Every day when I get home from work
I feel so frustrated
The boss is a jerk
And I get my sticks and go out to the shed
And I pound on that drum like it was the boss’s head
Because

CHORUS 4X

I Don’t Want To Work

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day
I Don’t Want To Play

I Just Want To Bang On The Drum All Day

Midsummer night dreams?

Not dreams more like nightmares, this it the time of year when the weather in Phoenix is just so nasty it is hard to believe that humans intentionally inhabit this godforsaken land. Imagine living inside of an easy bake oven and that’s what it would feel like to be in Phoenix during the summer months. Well maybe more like an easy bake oven with a humidifier pumping into hot wet air into it. It is really funny that when I moved here from Albuquerque the motto that you see everywhere here is “but it’s a dry heat”. There is nothing dry about this place in the summer. Don’t believe the hype it is nasty humid here. Albuquerque is dry, this place has irrigation, swimming pools, and golf courses everywhere and the humidity is out of control. Maybe it’s not like living in Miami or Houston but I think it is probably worse because it is humid and 118 degrees yes you heard me right 118 degrees. The heat and humidity here during the summer are making his place less and less attractive every day. I know it will turn nice at the end of September but for the next 2-1/2 months this place is like living at the edge of hell. If you are brave enough to visit our fine city in July or August the do yourself a favor and leave your cloths at home, they will only get soaked with sweat the second you go outside here. Plus we need a few more naked people running around, you can never have too many of those.

Happy 4th of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone.  Another blazing hot day here in the valley of the sun but I wouldn’t expect anything less for this time of year.  Summertime is the one real drag about living in Phoenix, but the fireworks here more than make up for it and this year we had an incredible display.  Like usual we waited until the very last minute to leave the house, because it is to stinkin hot to stand outside with no shade waiting for the fireworks to begin.  This year we decided to give the casino show a chance so we drove up there and got one of the best shows we have ever seen.  45 min of awesome aerials with all of the geometric shapes and great colors they can do now, but then it was time for the grand finale and what a finale it was.  We were standing about a quarter of a mile from where they were lighting off the fireworks and I mean to tell you the earth was shaking.  I have never been in an earthquake but I am sure it is a lot like that.  Wow it was one of the coolest displays I have ever seen.

I do love the opportunities that we have here is Phoenix but I am just not sure if the heat is worth it any more.  Check back with me in December when I will be wearing shorts and doing yard work or watching a football game from some northern city where it is 0 degrees and it will be a different story but for now I am sick of the heat.

Retirement in the woods

I really love my house and the time that I have spent in Arizona, but it is coming close to a time for change.  The last few summers here have made my antsy to get away from all of this heat.  And after spending the last week in San Diego it just makes it worse.  I really love San Diego the weather there is perfect but I just don’t understand how people can afford to live there.  A 1 bedroom condo on Coronado Island goes for $400,000.  Are you kidding me?  I understand that it is all about demand but come on that is ridiculous.  Ah well what’s a boy to do?  I guess that I have decided that I will settle for my second favorite place in the world, Durango.  Durango is just gorgeous, the weather is decent if you don’t have to go out for the entire winter, and the people are friendly.  Actually I say Durango but the area I am really talking about is more like Bayfield up toward Vallecito Lake.  Nice secluded area that would be perfect for a retirement cabin in the woods.

I am pretty much a loner anyway so I think it would be perfect for me.  I would just stock the pantry and never leave the house during the winter time.  I am sure that it would drive some people crazy (think The Shining), but I would be very happy being left alone for about 4 months of the year.  Now I just need enough money to retire and it’s cabin here I come.
